Comments:

Bandera is a beautiful town in a scenic Hill Country setting. For me I was coming home. I had relatives in the area and lived for over nine years nearby. San Antonio is one of my favorite big cities and Fiesta Texas is the amusement park my kids love the most. We were very excited to move to Bandera.

I arrived to find one of the TIF grants waiting to be started. The grant was written for technology infrastructure improvements on parts of two campuses, the High School and one of the Elementary campuses. By rewriting parts of the grant and reconfiguring the design we were able to completely rewire both campuses, including all of their portable buildings and replace all of the switches and routers. The Special Education Director, Patricia Galm, found us a TEA grant for technology that we used to upgrade all of the portables and their electronics on the Middle School campus. The spring before I left we were approved for another TIF grant that was written to rewire and upgrade the remaining Elementary campus and the balance of the Middle School campus. In a little over a year, all the campuses were upgraded completely to gigabit wire and fiber, plus all of the electronics were replaced.

In Bandera we implemented a work order system for the campuses, installed an Internal web site, started standardizing server configurations, placed thirty wireless laptops and a cart in the English department at the High School, and organized web committees and technology committees for campus based decision making.

Most of the administrators in Bandera were wonderful to work with and are very dedicated. I learned a tremendous amount and felt very valued. Although I was only in Bandera for a year, we left mainly for family reasons, it has left a huge imprint on my life and I am very glad I went there.
